It gives me immense pleasure to present Sri. Basaveshwara Arts & Commerce College and Post Graduation Center, an institution that stands as a testament to the visionary leadership and unwavering commitment of S.J.M. Vidyapeetha towards the cause of education.

In Haveri, the educational journey of our institution began in 1984 with the establishment of S.J.M. PU Independent College under the divine guidance and blessings of Shriman Niranjan Jagadguru Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Mahaswamiji. Initially offering the Arts stream, the institution was founded with the noble objective of extending quality education to rural and economically disadvantaged students of Haveri and the surrounding regions. In response to the growing educational aspirations of society, the Commerce stream was introduced in 1988, followed by the Science stream in 2000, thereby creating broader avenues for academic advancement.

Further strengthening the institution’s contribution to higher education, Basaveshwara College of Education (B.Ed.) was established in the year 2000 on the same campus. Initially affiliated with Karnataka University, Dharwad, the college subsequently came under the affiliation of Haveri University, continuing its mission of preparing competent and dedicated educators.

A significant milestone was achieved in 2025 when S.J.M. Vidyapeetha expanded its higher education initiatives by establishing the Basaveshwara Post Graduation Center and introducing the M.Com. course in On the occasion of the 151st Birth Anniversary of Sri Jagadguru Jayadeva Murugharajendra Mahaswamiji. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in our Journey of academic excellence.

Building upon this foundation, the institution received permission in 2026 to offer B.A. and B.Com. degree courses. With the introduction of these undergraduate courses, the institution was renamed Sri. Basaveshwara Arts & Commerce College and Post Graduation Center, reflecting its expanded academic vision and commitment to providing accessible, inclusive, and quality higher education.

Today, our institution strives to nurture intellectual growth, ethical values, leadership qualities, and social responsibility among students. We remain dedicated to creating a vibrant learning environment that empowers young minds to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world while contributing meaningfully to society.
